The BellSouth E-Mail Restrictions...
Ever try to send an e-mail with an attachment only to be told by an error message that you have lost contact with the Bellsouth outgoing e-mail server?  Well, you didn't loose contact, it disconnected you!  After a rather lively discussion with Bellsouth Tech Support, yesterday, they finally admitted they have imposed a 3 meg limitation on any one single outgoing e-mail sent through their servers.  The idea is to limit spammers...

If you are experiencing this problem and your account is on the Key West CyberWorks web hosting servers, send us a tech support request.  We will be happy to help you with a reconfiguration of your e-mail client to solve this issue.

P.S. Woulda been nice if they bothered to inform their customers that they were imposing this limit, especially commercial account holders.

The BellSouth ADSL Saga Continues...
Bellsouth is now issuing Westell USB/Ethernet capable modems.  What is important to know if you replace your old Alcatel Speed Touch Home Ethernet modem with a new Westell Ethernet modem is that the new Westell is actually a router/modem combo.  This fact seems to be unknown by anyone, or at least no one is saying they know it is a router/modem combo.

So, if you already have the old Alcatel modem and replace it with the new Westell, i.e. replace and connect it to your current router, it ain't gonna work!

You must either eliminate your current router or disable the router capabilities in the new Westell unit.
