Buyer BEWARE...

[It's Buyer Beware - Caveat Emptor!]

If you have made it this far through the web site I am going to give you some free, but very valuable Electronic Business advice.  BEWARE of many of the offers you will find on the World Wide Web for inexpensive, easy web sites.  You can not judge the quality of a business web site by its size or by its cost.

We may be able to build a web site for your business for a relatively low price or it may turn out to be an extensive site that costs more.  Here is my point, the cost is based on the scope of the web site and the objective of the web site is to return a profit on your investment. Companies have no problem investing a million dollars in a project if they feel they can get 2 million dollars in return.

Many companies (yes, my competition) make a myriad of claims about their products from raising the dead and healing the sick. BUT, let's talk success.  What are their results like?  What percentage of every client dollar invested in the web site is returned?  It has to be higher than 1 for 1 or you are wasting your time.  If their return is lower then you are losing money!  Might as well get a better return from your investment dollar by playing the lottery...

There is even one company that sells their product for less than $40.00 (a one-time cost).  It is easy to use and makes a decent-looking web site when you are done.  To create the web site (you do it) you need only a very basic knowledge of operating a computer and a very good system of on-line support is available to their customers. I decided to pose as a client and give it a try.

I installed the software. Everything went very well and the result was at least acceptable.  I checked into my new business web site to see how well it worked and looked.  It looked good and that was that.  BUT, later that evening I tried to access the new web site with my computer at home.  All I got was an error message that said the site could not be found!   What's going on?  It worked fine earlier in the day when I was on my office computer.  I started to look at the web site programming.

You need to know, at this point, that any computer connected to the Internet can host a web site.  Access speed is limited by the speed of your connection, but you can make a web site on your home computer.  Not many people are aware of this, but it is possible.  This is how this new business web site software I had purchased worked!  However, I guess it must have slipped their minds about telling me that fact.

What all this means is that when your computer is turned-off, so is your new web site!  I actually asked several people who had a decent World Wide Web knowledge if they understood how to the foregoing works and 100% replied, "Huh?"

This all means that you get what you pay for and most-times less in the web site business.  Be very, very careful. Ask questions, check the work of the company you are dealing with and always ask for sample web sites the company has created, it is also very permissible to contact the business that owns the web site to ask about how satisfied the business is with the web site creator.

If you haven't read it yet, read the ABOUT US section of this site to learn how we go about creating a web site.
